Preface

Apologies to readers who have been following this series about cooking. I have been focusing on publishing my novel and so have not worked on my posts about food and cooking. I will pick up this series again once I have finished publishing my novel. TGL 23rd January 2024.

Ours is the age of the cost of living crisis. We read about people in the news who face the choice: heat or eat. Do we spend what little money we have by heating our homes or eating? Many feel unable to do both at the same time. In this channel, about food and cooking, I set out to address this issue. My articles will be focused on single people. Nearly all who write about food and cooking assume that everyone lives in family groups and hence all recipes are geared toward cooking four or more portions of everything. I address this issue by making it clear that all my recipes are designed for one person. I have been cooking for myself for many years. I often use recipes gleaned from the Internet; I have learned how to reduce all the sizes and volumes to suit the preparation of just one serving. In my series of articles, I will also look at how the cost of food and eating can be reduced.
